What They Don't Know

What They Don't Know"

He joined the military
Fresh out of school
He did it out of love
Not to be “cool”

Three years later
He met a teenage girl
Made her a wife
She was his world.

They had a baby girl
Who could ask for more?
Just as they started their family
And he was shipped to war.

On the news we hear
Soldiers were deployed to fight
But they never give details about
These boys’ lives.

He’s the husband of a wife
He’s the only son to a mom
He’s the daddy of a baby
Who hasn’t seen him in so long

His goal isn’t to impress
It’s not to please
It’s to fight for his home
And keep world peace

He’s fighting for our freedom
While others are sleeping tight
He’s out defending the nation
On this very lonely night

People take advantage
Of every day things
They don’t realize
What being a soldier means

God, help these people be thankful
For what they don’t know they have
I’m a soldier’s wife,
He’s my hero, my love, my soul!
