The sailor's wife &family

 The sailor's wife &family

We stand on the pier and watch the ships go slowly sailing out into the rising
sun they take with them the loves of our lives, the fathers, the sons, the
husbands We watch until they are not even the smallest speck upon the line
where cloud meets sea and already we are dreaming of tomorrow, not the tomorrow
of the next dawn, but THE TOMORROW the one where our souls fall back together
and the ships turn their course and come home These men who go to serve our
country at any and all expense, leaving behind the lives they have led But we
are here.......we wait.........we love them through the absence...........and
cry that they are gone sailing upon a sea of salted water........well today I
have made my contribution to the sea with salty tears offering up to her the
half of my soul that makes me who I am, I have cast him off to the blue Pacific
Painted in the colourless emotions of every man, woman, and child who has ever
stood at the water's edge watching love sail out into the waiting day, and
known not when it would sail back to them and return once more two pieces of a
soul, two bodies, two hearts, two minds but always, always only one complete
soul between the two
