My Daddy is a Hero
My daddy isn't home with me to tuck me in at night,
To read me a bedtime story or even turn out the light.
My daddy is a soldier, he is an army of one,
And when he got that call, he knew of the job to be done.
Sometimes I get sad and wish that he was here,
But then my mommy says, "in your heart hes always near."
"Daddy loves you so much in every way,"
"But he has to help the other children who live so far away."
"These children have a leader who is filled with so much hate,"
"And daddy has to save them from a terrible fate."
"See your daddy is a hero, and he has a job to do,"
"But as soon as daddy can, he'll come back home to you."
Then my little heart is filled with so much pride,
My daddy's a real hero, though I always knew he was inside.
I miss my hero more and more each day,
And I will pray for his safe return until he is home to stay.
My only hope is that someday, my daddy can teach me,
How I can be a hero and be all that I can be.
