TO MY SOLDIER

TO MY SOLDIER

I can't explain the pain in my heart,
Knowing we're going to be so far apart,
I can't express the depth of my love for you,
This is the toughest thing we've ever been thru,
I try to be strong for our son or daughter,
While your in Kuwait being what you are, a Soldier,
You've trained hard to be good at what you do,
I've never been more proud of you,
I tuck in our children and kiss them goodnight,
And they ask about the bad guys you’ll fight,
When will Daddy be home they ask,
Soon, I will tell them, when 12 mon'ths have past,
I walk in our room and stare at our bed,
I'm overwhelmed with a feeling of dread,
This is the hard part, I have to climb in,
Its cold and lonely and only 10 pm,
I close my eyes and wonder how long will this night last,
And pray to God "make this year go by fast",
I love you with all my heart,
Its the waiting that’s the hardest part,
I promise I'll be here when you get home,
GOD I CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT DAY TO COME!
