Navy Announces Assignment Incentive Pay for Some Sailors Heading to NAS Lemoore

From Chief of Naval Personnel Public Affairs

WASHINGTON (NNS) -- The Navy announced Thursday that some Sailors who are considering orders to sea-duty squadrons at Naval Air Station (NAS) Lemoore may be authorized Assignment Incentive Pay (AIP).

AIP is a temporary compensation tool used to incentivize voluntary assignment to billets determined to be historically difficult to fill.

"We recognize Lemoore is a hardship duty station for many Sailors," said Rear Adm. John Nowell Jr., Director, Military Personnel Plans and Policy. "This is why we're working hard to compensate Sailors who choose to serve there and go to sea."

Those Senior Chief and Chief Petty Officers who are issued orders on or after Jan. 31, 2017, for Aviation Machinist Mate (AD), Aviation Electrician's Mate (AE) and Aviation Structural Mechanic (AM) with the Navy Enlisted Code (NEC) 8342 or 8800 are eligible to apply and may receive AIP.

Sailors that already have orders or are currently stationed at NAS Lemoore are not eligible to receive AIP.

To apply, members should submit applications and bid for an AIP assignment on the navy on-line career management system. The maximum AIP bid for this assignment is $500. Members may view maximum AIP bid amounts through their command career counselors or on the NPC website

NAS Lemoore is the Navy's Master Jet Base on the west coast and home to 16 sea duty F/A-18E-F squadrons.
