Description:
  1. The Philippine Independence Medal was authorized in 1946 by the United States and the Phillippine Commonwealth governments.
  2. The ribbon was presented to those members of the US Armed Forces serving in the Phillippines on July 4, 1946, or who were recipients of both the Philippine Defense and Philippine Liberation ribbons.
  3. Although, the medal is NOT authorized for wear on the US military uniform a medal was struck by the Phillippine government.
  4. It is a gold circular disc with a female figure inside the center. Native cloting adorns the figure and she is holding the Phillippine flag. Inside the border, on the top, are the words "PHILLIPPINE INDEPEDENCE" which are raised with "July 4, 1946" around the bottom.
