Description:

  • Authorization: SECNAV Memo of 17 March 1998, as amended by ALNAV 049/16. Prior to 5 July 2016, this award was called the Navy Recruit Training Service Ribbon.
  • Effective Dates: On or after 1 October 1995.
  • Awarded to officers and enlisted personnel of the U.S. Navy who meet the following criteria:
    • Successfully completed the prescribed tour of duty at one of the following commands:
      1. Naval Service Training Command (NSTC);
      2. Recruit Training Command;
      3. Officer Training Command;
      4. Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Units;
      5. U.S. Naval Academy (USNA); or
      6. U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School
    • Completed the tour on or after 1 October 1995.
    • Maintained outstanding personal standards without any disciplinary incidents throughout the tour.
  • Each subsequent award is denoted by wearing a 3/16-inch bronze star on the ribbon. A 3/16-inch silver star is worn in lieu of five bronze stars.
